About the University of Tasmania

The University of Tasmania (UTAS) is a public research university with 3 main campuses in Hobart, Burnie, and Sydney. Established in 1846 as Christ College, it became a university in 1890. UTAS has around 33,879 students, 2,500 academic staff, and 1,255 administrative staff. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a range of disciplines and is affiliated with the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning, as well as the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning.

Eligibility Criteria:

If you wish to apply for a scholarship, you should be a national of Uganda, Zambia, Kenya, Morocco, Botswana, Cameroon, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Namibia, Egypt, or Zimbabwe. Students must be planning to commence full-time tuition-paying study on a specific course for the first time at the University.

The following courses are eligible for enrollment:

  • Coursework requirements for all undergraduate and honors programs (except Bachelor of Nursing in Hobart and Launceston, as well as online courses)
  • Postgraduate coursework in all fields (excluding Master of Laboratory Medicine and online courses).
